University of Maryland College Park, Honors College, rising Junior Materials Science and Engineering major, 3.6 GPA. My high school education was completed in part locally at Glenelg High School (4.0 GPA) and in part abroad in England at St Edward's Senior School in Cheltenham. My major, Materials Science and Engineering combines aspects of Chemistry, Engineering, and Physics to design, produce, and analyze new materials with specific properties.
Experience
Experience working with children through vacation bible school, and working abroad at summer camps in Italy teaching about sustainable farming. Experienced in leading and working with kids through Boy Scouts (I became an Eagle Scout in 2013). I scored a 2190 on the SAT with a 790 in the math section. I believe my strongest subjects are Chemistry and Math, having taken a wide variety of classes at University ranging from organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry and up through differential equations in Math (including calculus 1-3). I want to be a tutor because I feel that I am knowledgeable in the subjects I listed, and I can effectively communicate with and engage children of all ages. I lived abroad in England for 3 years, where I developed essential communications skills which I believe make me an effective teacher.
