Natasha P.
Private tutor in Baltimore, MD
Education
I am a Dual-Certified Special Educator (Elementary Education, and Special Education) in New York, and Maryland. I hold professional licenses in both states. However, I received my undergraduate and graduate training in New York State.
Experience
I've taught for 7 years in special education. Five of those years were in a self-contained classroom for children with autism at a private school, and my current teaching position is an inclusion special educator. I teach pre-K through 1st grade in my current position. I am well versed in providing intervention for phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, writing, and math and have used the following programs: Orton-Gillingham, Talkies, TouchMath. I am also versed in core curriculum, and understanding/applying it's objectives. I am experienced in using a variety of formal, and informal assessments to determine programming needs, areas of deficits, and strengths; I use these assessments to guide instruction, and bridge gaps. As a special educator I use a variety of hands on sensory techniques to activate learning, and engage tactile senses. Learning should be engaging and fun! Let me tutor your child to increase their confidence, maintain skills, or provide academic intervention! I am available weeknights, have flexible scheduling on Saturdays, and will have a very flexible schedule over the summer.
