Education

Current PGY-1 psychiatry resident at Univ of Maryland Med Center. Graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY in May 2016. Graduated from New York University (Dec 2011). BA in Psychology. Also Pre-Med with a minor in Chemistry. GPA of 3.62.

Experience

Tutoring privately for now over 8 years. I have covered biology, biochem, general chemistry, and physics (all high school and college level). Most experienced with college gen chem, which I tutored for often at NYU, and pre-med courses. Willing to offer pre-med advice for those it applies to as I have been through the process. AP scores of 5 on Chemistry, Psychology, Microeconomics and 4 on AP Calculus AB and World History. 2160 combined SAT score. 710 Math, 720 Critical Reading, 730 Writing. SAT II: 680 Bio, 790 Mathematics II, 770 Physics MCAT (V, P, B): 31 (11,10,10), 32 (9, 12, 11) At NYU, science GPA of 3.4. I feel I would be a great tutor because I am patient, and have experience dealing with students' frustration at learning new material. I believe learning the fundamentals is the only way to excel at a subject, and I try to break down the subject and present it in the simplest way possible. By understanding the basics, students have an easier time learning the more complicated material by just applying the basics to new situations. This is especially applicable to any science and math classes, which I am hoping to tutor. By providing the groundwork for course material, I believe any student can master the most difficult material by simply applying the basics and taking things one step at a time. I am also available for any questions people may have about medical school, application cycles and details.

Hobbies

I was on the varsity swimming team in high school and know what it is like to balance classwork with extracurricular activities. I love to play basketball in my free time away from academics. I was also very involved in psychology research at NYU. Now spending much of my time at work as a first year resident. I love all kinds of music, especially hip-hop, reggae, and jazz. I also spend a lot of time reading, news, books, anything I can find. Always looking for new perspectives on things.
