Experience

As an undergraduate at American University, I tutored students in Writing, English Literature, and Spanish. I enjoyed the process of identifying and addressing challenges with my clients, helping them to take control of their studies and gain self-confidence in subject areas they previously did not enjoy. My approach involves the active participation of my clients and the development and implementation of a study strategy that we can work on collaboratively. Respect, integrity, and patience are the pillars of my tutoring technique. My SAT scores (including the full, standard exam) and SAT subject exams in writing and Spanish, were in the 92-95th percentiles, and my GRE scores were in the 90th percentile. In addition to my graduate and undergraduate degrees, I hold an International Baccalaureate diploma from Richard Montgomery High School, where I graduated as an AP Scholar with Honor. My coursework has included graduate training in epidemiology and public health practice; undergraduate courses in international studies related to Latin America and development; and various classes in social sciences and the Spanish, Portuguese, and Persian languages. Professionally, I have served in a supervisory capacity managing research teams for a consulting organization serving health care providers, including in quality assurance and mentorship roles. I have also conducted quantitative research as a graduate student and at various public health-related nonprofits. I thrive in environments where I can work collaboratively with others, including when I can provide training and support for less-experienced colleagues. In this spirit, I also gain a great amount of satisfaction working with tutoring clients to improve their experiences with academics.
