Education

Williams College - Bachelors, English

Experience

I attended Williams College, where I earned my bachelor's degree in English, with a concentration on women in literature. While I was there, I had the opportunity to tutor students in area middle schools and high schools. At that time, I tutored students in English, science, math, essay writing and revision, and social studies. I really like tutoring, especially when I get to help a student see how their own interests connect to the subjects they are studying at school. Once they see how this works, they tend to become more engaged, and with a deeper interest in what they're studying usually comes a better rate of success. For example, whenever I work with a student who doesn't care for writing, I encourage them to get practice by writing about the things they love. This gives them the motivation to write, and generally leads to success. Having experienced that success, they realize that they are also able to write essays about things that are required at school, even if they might not be as interesting. I'm able to tutor students in a huge variety of subjects, and also help them prepare for standardized tests like the SAT, PSAT, ACT, and others.
