Hi, I'm Yesenia. I am a bilingual native Spanish speaker. My family is Puerto Rican, and I shared my summers with my Puerto Rican, Spanish speaking family. My grandma spoke Spanish, so I had to learn it quickly to be able to talk with her and the rest of my family. From a young age, I developed a love for my culture and language.I started helping kids when I was only fourteen. While in high school, I worked with children that had special needs. My professional tutoring career began as early as sixteen years old; I have more than eight years of experience. While attending college, I taught Spanish to middle school children three days a week, while tutoring in the evenings and on weekends. All through my senior high and college experience, I took Spanish classes to polish up my writing abilities. In the summer, I worked for a program called Freedom Schools. During this time, I taught children from seven to thirteen years old. I taught an integrated reading curriculum while using field trips and extracurricular activities to explore their creativity.It has always been my passion to work with kids of any age. I feel that tutoring, in addition to teaching, has allowed me to make an impression on my student's lives. Most of my experience is working with children, but I have also tutored adults. While I was in college, some of my peers struggled with writing in Spanish. I enjoyed working with and helping them better their understanding of the language. I love meeting and working with people. My tutoring style focuses on utilizing our time together and being patient. I am also very optimistic and enthusiastic. I own my own business and work from home when I am not tutoring. I am also a full-time mom and aunt. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and studying new facts.
