I am a tutor with a bachelor's degree in psychology, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Currently, I am working on my master's degree in psychology at the University of Baltimore. In the process of earning my bachelor's degree, I completed 20 psychology courses and had a 4.0 GPA. I also worked in two different research labs and as a teaching assistant at the university.Over the years, I have tutored students of all ages, even as high as graduate school. I believe that an effective tutor should identify a student's strengths and weaknesses and then tutor based on these observations. I take a one-on-one approach to my tutoring, as students tend to get more out of the sessions when they have the tutor's full attention.When helping students to prepare for exams, I provide them with a number of different problems and then help them to answer the questions in a way that they can understand. After all, if students don't remember how the problem was solved, it is unlikely to help them during the exam. I usually ask my students for a copy of their course syllabus before administering these sample tests so that I can be certain that we are covering the right material.
