Education

I am a sophomore at La Salle University. I am an English literature major with a philosophy minor. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA and I am in the Honors Program. I plan to graduate in 2018. I graduated from high school in 2014. I went to Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. I was a student in the ingenuity program.

Experience

I tutored high school students for one year at the parkers writing center. I tutored and mentored children in elementary school for two years. I took eight AP classes in high school. As a result, in college, I was ahead by a whole semester. As a freshman, I was able to tackle public speaking and leadership positions. I am very passionate about nutrition, the environment, women's rights, and diversity. I am a part of the violence against women coalition, LEAN club, and the environmental club. I became a coordinator for the environmental club, as a freshmen. I hope to become an ambassador for the LEAN club this upcoming year. I published two articles in my college's newspaper about the environemnt around our campus and the earth day march. I've taken a diverse set of classes. In college, I have taken many liberal arts courses. In high school, I took many math and sciences courses. My education has no limits. Fun fact: I can memorize long speeches. I also feel like the stage is my second home.

Hobbies

I love to write and read. My mom said that when I was a child, you would always see me with a book. In social settings, I am very observant and a great listener. These traits have made me more comfortable tutoring students who don't always necessarily want any help. My approach has always been more welcoming and less forceful. When it comes to solving problems or writing stories, I am very creative and spontaneous. I enjoy designing study plans and shaping material in a way that the student will understand. Because of my love for reading and helping others, I want to become an English professor and a published author. I am very optimistic and ambitious. There are no limits to my education or my dreams. I love learning about everything. From science to history, I enjoy it all. My experiences have shaped me into this optimistic and eager to learn personality. I grew up in poverty and faced many challenges when it came to education, shelter, and food. Now, I am a first generation student in college with a large scholarship that covers almost all expenses. Through these challenges, I learned that reading was the only escape. I want to be a tutor because education saved my life. I want to give back by helping others reach their educational goals.
