Experience
I studied at Johns Hopkins University to earn my masters in mechanical engineering. My coursework put a heavy focus on robotics, though I also took courses in electrical and mechanical engineering. I served as a teaching assistant in a robotics course as a graduate. I even won an award as one of the mechanical engineering department's best teaching assistants. While in school, I also served as an outdoor trip leader and instructor, working with city kids to educate them in survival. The time spent with them taught me how to explain completely foreign subjects to a child. My style of teaching is linear, working through the earlier subjects that are necessary to understand the later, more complex ones. I can notice when someone needs a bit more time in working with a concept. As a tutor, I work to correct lacking foundation provided to students in certain subjects. Students often find advanced mathematics difficult as a result. Whether I am tutoring elementary math or algebra, I take an individualized approach for every student. A personalized curriculum ensures that important concepts are explored thoroughly. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy engineering and testing drones, going sailing, and playing the violin, as well as reading.
