Experience

I have always wanted to be an educator because I find great personal joy when students learn new subjects. I focus particularly on elementary school students, because my undergraduate degree is in Early Childhood Education, and my graduate studies focused on reading and literacy for elementary students. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past five years, as well, with experience teaching kindergarten through fourth grade students. I became interested in tutoring in addition to teaching when I helped a small group of elementary students, mainly in third and fourth grades, who struggled with basic reading skills and mathematics. My goal as a tutor is to make math and reading seem less like a chore and more like fun, so my students learn to enjoy these engaging and critical subjects. I work closely with my students to understand their unique struggles and needs so that I can tailor my style to them. When I'm not fulfilling my dream as an educator, I love to read just for fun, not for coursework! I also really love to cook, and of course, I love to shop.
