Experience
As a tutor, my areas of focus are Mathematics and Economics. I have experience teaching math at the 8th grade level, an opportunity which allowed me to work with students with varying math skills. I taught at an inner city public school where some students were quite behind, needing help with math basics such as addition and subtraction. On the other hand, there were some students that were ready to move on to more advanced math. I quickly learned to adapt and be flexible in my teaching. I worked hard to gain my students' trust so that they would be more open about any gaps in their education. I also did my best to encourage and push on the students that were more advanced, taking care to keep them from becoming bored. I have a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Wheaton College, where I also earned minors in Mathematics and Economics. I am now continuing my education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I am working toward a master's degree in Economic Policy Analysis. Other interests of mine include soccer, which I enjoy playing, watching, and refereeing. I also do my best to follow current events via the Baltimore Sun and various podcasts. And, last but not least, I watch the Tonight Show to add some laughter to my life!
