Education

Smith College - BA, Linguistics

Experience

I attended Smith College, where I studied linguistics. My college education helped me develop the skills in critical thinking needed to teach foreign language, grammar, English as a second language, and mathematics. In addition, I help students prepare for standardized tests, like the SAT, ACT, and PSAT.I started tutoring when I was fifteen. I now tutor a range of subjects, such as elementary and middle school math, algebra, geometry, reading, writing, phonics, and Spanish. I am also available to help students improve their essay writing skills. I love to learn, and I believe that, with the right teacher, any subject can be fun and engaging. In 2010 I joined a teaching internship program, where I was trained how to be an effective tutor. Since this time, I have tutored a diverse range of people, from elementary students to senior citizens. I am comfortable working one-on-one and teaching small groups. In both settings, I work hard to change my curriculum to accommodate each student's learning style.
