Education

I have a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, a master's degree in Public Administration, and a bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Spanish.

Experience

I love teaching and working with students of all ages, ranging from elementary school to graduate school. I have many years of experience working with students from all walks of life and one of my greatest joys is to help students achieve their goals. If we decide to work together, our first session - up to an hour - will be free of charge so we can get to know one another and be sure we are a good match. During that meeting, I would also like to go over your goals and learn more about where you need assistance. Generally, I prefer to meet online or in a public place (such as a coffee shop or library) for our first meeting. For students under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must also be present. I have listed more information below for specific types of students: Elementary, Middle, and High School Students - I have tutored and mentored students for over 20 years in areas that include reading, math, social studies, and science. I have also spent many years working with students who have ADHD and other challenges that sometimes make it difficult for them to learn in traditional classrooms. Undergraduate Students - I currently teach a number of undergraduate psychology courses including research methods and statistics. So if you are having difficulty understanding the material from one or more of your classes, I am here to help. Through my individual work with students in the past, I have seen great improvement in their ability to learn, understand, and apply the information from their courses. Graduate Students - I have nearly 10 years experience tutoring graduate students and 4 years teaching masters- and doctoral-level social science statistics courses. I specialize in courses that range from introductory statistics through more advanced topics such as multivariate analysis, structural equation modeling, and Rasch analysis. In addition to teaching courses, I have successfully tutored and mentored several students as they have completed their masters theses and doctoral dissertations. As an educational psychologist, I also specialize in theories of learning, motivation, and human development.
